April 2016 Video, Discussion & a Meal: “Jesus at the Margins” – Greg Boyle
- “My companion” indicates a very earthy presence, which may contradict some of the “in the heaven bye and bye” notions about Jesus that many people have. Does a description of Jesus as “my companion” ring true of your understanding about Jesus? How have you experienced him, or want to experience him, that way?
- St. Ignatius said, “I see Jesus standing at the lowly place.” St. Ignatius lived in the 16th century…a very different world than today. When you think of “the lowly place” where Jesus might be, what comes to your mind?
- Father Greg speaks of a “circle of compassion, with nobody standing outside of that circle.” If you are honest, do you imagine the same thing? Is there anyone that you see standing outside of that circle?
- Father Greg sought to “imitate the kind of God He could believe in”, and followed Jesus to the place he thought Jesus would be. And, people like Mario and Bobby have been transformed by that love. Where in your life might Jesus be inviting you to go, and be his companion in that place?
