May 2017 Video & Discussion: “Discovering What’s Most Important” – Tamrat Layne
Download Discussion Questions ›
As an atheist and communist, Tamrat Layne experienced a life transforming encounter while serving 12 years in solitary confinement at a prison in Ethiopia.
In this talk from Simply Jesus, Tamrat shares part of his story and what he believes is the greatest hindrance to truly knowing the person of Jesus. We hope you will listen to his talk, and discuss these questions with your friends, family, or small group.
Questions.
- Read Matthew 17:1-5, the story Tamrat referenced in his talk. How do you think about the miraculous stories of Jesus recorded in scripture? How do you think about miraculous stories in our current time?
- What is your initial reaction to Tamrat’s story about Jesus coming to his prison cell? Awe? Disbelief? Skepticism? Discuss.
- Has there been a time when you would say you experienced the “Presence of Jesus”, maybe in the same way as Tamrat, or differently? Would you be willing to share about it? (This is a time for others to listen, not debate.)
- Would you consider yourself hungry for, and seeking, the Holy Spirit? Why or why not?

May 2, 2017at2:12 pmWhat Tamrat shared is exactly what I believe. The more I know Jesus, the more I know nothing. Like a child, Jesus gives me life! Jesus told me, ” Remember Larry, You are not here so that people will love you, you are here so that you can love people” Thank you Jesus, Thank you Jesus!
